Meetings and Appearances

Unless otherwise posted, the Farmington Writers Circle usually meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm at Entertainmart’s (formerly Hastings) Hardback Café, located at 3020 East 20th Street, Farmington, New Mexico.

Each meeting is normally preceded by one of our members reading from his/her works at 6:30.  Check the posts regularly for who the upcoming speaker will be.

Check our members webpages for their personal events, though they may be posted here as well.

Here is a list of our meeting dates in 2018 and the agenda for each as of January 2018:

February 8:  Topics discussed included having a second writers Meet and Greet during the summer, participating at the readings in Feat of Clay Art Gallery in Aztec, an update on Writers Circle social media, and other topics .  The meeting began with Rhenna St. Clair reading her short story “The Courtyard Gate” followed by Jay Willmon of Just Click Printing speaking on his printing business and self-publishing a book.

March 8:  The meeting will begin with readings by Ann Bendon and Brooke Lanier.  Ann will read two chapters from an upcoming work and Brooke will read from her poetry.  The speaker is yet to be announced.

April 12:  The reader for the night is to be determined.  Speakers for the night will be from the San Juan County Historical Society.   Patty Tharp will discuss her research and writing process; Catherine Davis is the archivist and manages the pamphlets and books for the Society (she arranges for the books to go to the museum, college and other places); Marilou Weybourn does the layout, design and arranges for the printing.

May 10:  The reader for the evening will be Rebecca Larivee.  Rebecca will be reading two short works:  a nonfiction piece entitled “Richard’s Coat” and a prose piece entitled “Black, Yellow, Blue”.   The speaker is yet to be determined.

June 14:  Julie Hamlin will read from her upcoming fantasy novel Fiery Winds of Chaos Book I.  The speaker for the night is yet to be determined.  Using pseudonyms/pen names will be the main topic of discussion.

July 12:  Linda Fredericks will read one of her short stories. The speaker is yet to be determined

August 9:  Roxie Guess will read from her story “Tomato figs”. The speaker is yet to be determined

September 13:  Phil Slattery will read from his horror novel in progress The Man Who Escaped from Hell.  The speaker is yet to be determined

October 11:  To be determined.

November 8:  To be determined.

December 13:  To be determined.
